72 Road Runner ...wiw

Post by 1carcrazyguy » Thu Jun 28, 2007 11:35 pm

Had a guy call about a 72 Road Runner that is a project car. It is dark green with black interior 400 4 speed car. It is missing the motor, trans and most of the interior. Dash is still there and all VIN stamps are suppost to match. Anyway the front end is MIA except hood is still there. Never been wrecked according to the guy. The fenders were full of bondo and removed and no replacements were found. Anyway the car is not suppost to have much rust in the lower 1/4's being that it has been a NM car all its life. The guy asked me what I would offer for the car and I have no idea where to begin. I know finding front fenders, header panel, splash pan, and the GRILLE......would be expensive. Anyway since I have no pics  what would you all would think would be a ballpark figure??

Here are some things I asked and found out
Windshield cracked all other glass is good
8 3/4 no idea if it is a posi
drum brakes all the way around
no front fenders, header panel, front bumper, motor or trans
missing seats, door panels headliner and package tray
Dash and cluster still in car
Drivers door has some filler (no other panels have fillers) yeah right
back bumper and tail lights on car
trunk floor and floors solid
frame rails solid (factory undercoated NM car)

Boy not much left of that car. Need another Donor car for the front end motor and tranny. NEEDS TOO MUCH to me worth much more then a donor car itself for the quarters, trunk, and floor pans.

$1000 is my guess and part it out. Unless the number come up really rare optioned car. A/C, PW, cassett, hood release, stuff like that.

Or take a car like mine and make one good car out of it. LOL

It is a factory A/C car which I thought was strange for a 4 speed car. But the sellers price is $2750. Which I thought was way to high. But I thought I would ask to make sure I was not out of line with real world values.

THANKS

That is definately bar-of-gold syndrome there!!!

I personally, wouldnt give more than about 500 bucks for somthing missing that much, he will never sell at his asking price unless he finds a real idiot, or someone wanting to morph a Satellite into a Roadrunner just for profit sake.

The car is a 400 4 speed 72 RoadRunner. I had thought about buying it to redo instead of spending money on my green 71 Satellite.

At least have him send you some good pictures at a minimum before making an offer.....even some of the nicest looking ones on ebay turn out to be perfumed junk-heaps.....so just be careful, unless of course you have a money tree in your backyard.

This is the kind of thing you are better off looking at it in person, 1000 in pocket not to offer it to him but to flash a couple to see if he bites. It sounds like it needs to much, and he has been in the nm sun to long to think he is going to get what he is asking. 8)
