72 Taillight Screws

Post by 72GY9Runner » Thu Mar 29, 2007 4:26 pm

No I don't need 72 screws.
When I bought the car, the owner had removed anything that he thought might be stolen while it sat in the field. Wouldn't you know it, I don't seem to have any of the original taillight screws, and the fact that most of them are over 2" in length means that I can only buy them locally with the square type head, or phillips in the countersunk variety (ICK).

Does anyone reproduce the originals or something that is at least close?

I couldn't believe it when the parts guys showed me that catalog listings stop at 1 3/4" for phillips head trim screws with a non countersink style head.

At the moment I've mounted the lenses with 2 screws a side just to hold them on. But this wont do when it hits the streets in the very near future.

Thanks for any help you can provide!

I have seen them on ebay. The only thing is that they come in a kit that contains all the nuts and bolts for under the hood and exterior. I think they cost about 125. I might seem high but they give you everything in the correct finish. The name of the ebay store is FASTENERS PLUS. I bought a set and was very pleased with it. Maybe they will sell you just the tail light screws. Check it out!

I just checked out thier site and they no longer have them. Sorry for the bad info..

Thanks guys,

I tried both the ebay stores. Neither one carries them.
I guess I'll have to make do until I can find some used ones.

72GY9Runner I was thinking about you and I found 5 of the long ones and 1 of the short ones. Give me your mailing address and I'll send them to you
