A/C Question

Post by rr6pak » Mon Feb 19, 2007 11:26 pm

My '71 originally came from the factory with A/C. Through the years, til I got it (though I've had it for 20+) the compressor, condensor, etc is gone. Isnt the compressor the same for ALL engine sizes the same except for the brackets? IF ANYONE KNOW OF WHERE I CAN GET THE COMPRESSOR, PLEASE LET ME KNOW.
Thanks

Why would you want an old compressor?can you still find r-12? I heard that you would have to convert to r134a.Unless there is a refrigerant that the old commpressors can us as a direct replacement.

Around here you can still get R12. Has to be from a licensed a/c shop and they have to do the service. Very expensive proposition but it can be done.

Don't know about other places.
