So, I have a stripper car. I wonder how many were duped into ordering a car, based off of mine? LOl!

Now you sort of have me scratching my head. In other words. What in your mind did the "standard" Road Runners in 1971 come equipped with? As for the 3-speed Road Runner. My friend's '70 383 Road Runner which he bought brand new off of the dealer's lot. Came with a 3-speed manual transmission in it. The reason he settled for that one. Was because he wanted a stick. But his insurance company considered a 4-speed to be a muscle car, and would of charged him more. No, his car wasn't exactly a stripper. It came with a bucket seat interior, AM radio, power steering, manual brakes. Hardcore street racers wanted strippers. They wanted "Go" and not show or comfort. Or to have to pay for a bunch of stuff that they were going to strip out of the car. So there definitely was a market for them.

Re: Fewest options ever!
Hello, I'm back! I've been driving my roadrunner since. Have had the floors replaced with amd sheet metal, plus I managed to find a good rear floor pan from a donor car, (thanks to Frank!) I have been mulling over the idea of adding power steering and power brakes, but do not know. I have the original drivetrain, so, it may be better to restore it completely stock. Do you guys have any thoughts on that? Is it better to leave it like it is on the fender tag, for collector purposes? Also, what kind of stripes are the v8x? I do not think they are strobe stripes, are they? I will be posting a copy of the build sheet, so you guys can check it out.

Re: Fewest options ever!
Also, according to my build sheet the wheels are w21. I don't know if they are 14 or 15 inch. How can I find out? Thanks!
Re: Fewest options ever!
welcome back...V8X designates reflective black strobe stripes. W21 designates Rallye wheels....what is your tire code?
AKA Butterscotch71....the road runner nest is out to win you over this year!

Eric,
On line 4, of the build sheet, where it has wheel information, I can not read that area. There are some numbers, I think 58 then x something. What are the possible numbers? Maybe if I knew what they are, I could help discern the codes. I was thinking that transverse stripes were on the hood. But I do not know much. Lol.

Re: Fewest options ever!
I believe the 3 spd/383 was standard in a roadrunner. The automatic was extra and the 4spd was extra. I don't think you could get a 318 in a roadrunner. But you could get a 440, and possibly a hemi, I think. So, the 3 spd/383 was a base option.ILUV72RRs wrote:Now you sort of have me scratching my head. In other words.
