Yeah, got her all cleaned out and looking good. Will post some current pics soon. She doesn't even look Like the same car anymore. The front cap is off and she is on her way to my mechanic tomorrow. Won't be long and she will be a little more roadworthy. btw, Where would I find the correct steel wheels to pull off the cop dogdish look? thinkin 15 inch.

Thanks Gary, have owned car since just before father's day this year. Still can't believe that other than the engine and trans, she is intact. My mechanic is excited about working on "something simple" for a change.

fortunatly the damage was contained to just the engine bay. took about 2hrs to clean out. gonna go with year one (unless there is someone else?) to replace wire harnesses. She is now sitting at my mechanic's shop waiting for all the underside work (front end, brakes and checking rear dif\replacing rear seals. can't wait to get her back home to drop engine\trans in.

Classic Industries may have a wiring harness to fit your car as well. If your total purchase is more than $199 you use code: CLX13 to save money on shipping because it's FREE if you order before July 30th. I'm glad to hear the engine bay cleaned up good and your mechanic is ready to get to work on your car! I'm looking for wheels and small stuff for my car at the Mopar Nationals next month

Don't buy a wire harness from Evens. From what everybody's says the ons from Year One are the best, they are made just for Year One.

thanks for the info. Think will go with year one. The peace of mind will be worth it I think.

I did get to purchase some parts this week which is always good. got the caliper rebuild kits, wheel bearings, rubber brake hoses, master cylinder, and some other goodies. Next is the front suspension kit. Paid on heads at the shop where they are being rebuilt (everything is being replaced) should be ready by 1 September...then it will be time to put engine together. Can't wait!

Origin of name "The bird""

Post by mopardog » Fri Aug 23, 2013 3:48 am

Here's one for ya. A friend asked me the other day why I refer to my Road Runner as "the bird". So I told him. (I hope I'm not the only one here that has dubbed their pride and joy with some nickname be it a girl's name or whatnot. Kinda something I picked up from my dad I guess growing up.) I had been thinking for a little while of a name for my new project and coming up with zilch. Then one night while of all things, I was watching Family Guy (i know right). It was the episode where Peter finds the "surfing bird" album (wife and daughters absolutely hate song by the way)....my favorite episode :D. And it hit me "THE BIRD!!!!" Wife looks at me and says, "Don't even start!!!" And I said, "No, that's her name...The bird!!!!" Wife rolls her eyes, shakes her head and walks out of the room. So, from that point on, she has become "the bird". Can't help but antagonize the wife and girls when I go out to work on her or go get parts when they ask me "what am I doing?" I reply "don't you know about the bird?...." before I can finish....I'm interrupted by "GET OUT! Go work on your D#mn car!"

Yeah, she's cool with it. The car has been good therapy for me and she understands how hard and long I have searched for a car to replace the last one I had...nearly 10 yrs of looking. Plus, the sooner it's done, the sooner it stops becoming "yard art". :D
