brackets

Post by aerodynamic » Wed May 10, 2006 8:59 pm

Hi all,

I've been asking a lot of questions lately, and I hope everyone will continue to be patient with me. I've been out of the mopar loop for a long time, and I'm excited to be back in it. I used to know a lot of this stuff years ago, but I've forgotten a lot.

My question is, are all the brackets on all big block engines the same, i.e. alternator, power steering, a/c, ect? Some of the brackets on my car don't look right, lots of washers and spacers and what not. When I get to restoring this thing, I don't want it to look like that, that's for sure.

Thx for any help guys.

I would have to say,it depends. An air conditioned cars pulleys are different than the non air car. Power steering might be different than manual steering. I would go to a car show like carlistle and look for a similar car and take digital pictures of the engine to see the pulley and the belt alignment. I work in the air conditioning field and know the importance of proper pulley alignment for power transmission and longer belt life. I think that most brackets are still availiable.

A/C brackets are different between 383s and 440s. Don't forget, it's that B/RB block thing...
