H2XW is the decor package interior. Missed that. You're rapidly losing claim to the fewest options ever title. :D

So back then if you ordered a 383 Road Runner, would they sell you a standard 383 car if they had one there,or would they order you a road runner with a 383 and consider it an optioned car? Did you have the choice to choose back then?

Ahhh heres an example:

You go to the dealer for a 383 car and they don't have any standard 383 RRs left. So you put in an order. Would this be an order of just a standard 383 roadrunner,or would they consider it a road runner with an optioned 383 since they didn't have it in stock and it was ordered,OR either way since the 383 is standard would it not be labeled as an option?

Anyone get what I'm trying to ask? I'm sure as hell losing my thought. I too want to learn!Goodnight!

There was also the "M2" interior which was the base interior. Pretty much a taxi cab seat.

Some good information here if you want to look through available options:

N41 is the dual exhaust, again, standard.
F81 is the "decklid release" according to my info. That would be a very rare option on anything other than a taxi cab Satellite.

If you really want scrutinize it, there are additional options that would not necessarily have appeared on the fender tag, like wheel options. These are shown on the broadcast sheet.

its F82 for Remote Control Deck Lid not f81 :D

I see F81 on about half of the Winsor built cars. It doesn't seem to relate to any option. Crazy Canadians....

The 383 was the standard engine available in Road Runners for 71. Optional (extra cost) engines available were 340, 440+6 and HEMI. If you didn't specify an engine option when ordering, you'd get the 383.

There was a time out here in so. CA where one of the car dealers would advertise on late nite TV a crazy low price for a vehicle. Then when you sat down with the salesman. He'd ask you what sort of engine you wanted, trans, seats, etc.. Would you like a radio, heater, so forth. In other words. The original price of the vehicle was basically for the mere shell! So by the time you made it the way you wanted. It cost as much, or more, than one of the others on the lot. People finally got up in arms over that, and they changed the law so you couldn't be quite that shady. But they still have strippers today with not much of anything on them as bait to get you into the dealership. Also back then the salesmen were pretty much told to sell what they had on the lot. If they didn't have what you want. They'd often say to you, "Try next week. We might have what you want then." Yeah, an ordered car was money for the dealership. But they made a bigger profit by reducing the inventory of what they had in stock. Ordering a car did not reduce the dealership's inventory. Then when I started looking for a '72 Road Runner after the first of the year. You were hard pressed to even find one at a dealership. They didn't want to carry hi-po cars anymore due to insurance hassles back then. That's why sales of '73 RRs went up. They started offering 318s in them. Which for many insurance companies. Was not classified as a hi-po car. Some insurance companies went by the name of the vehicle. Others by the engine size. Then some used both to say what the cost would be.
