Fewest options ever!

Here's my fender tag. I am willing to bet that this is possibly the fewest optioned 1971 road runner out there. Let me know what you guys think.

It does have three options. Radio (R11), Performance Hood Treatment (V21) and transverse stripe (V8X). You can be fairly certain there was a few true zero option ones produced.

I actually had a 70 Challenger that could top that. Slant 6 manual three. No radio. No power nothing. Had been cloned into an R/T 6 Pack by the time I owned it though.

To find an unaltered stripped down low option car is definitely a rarity. For all the previous owners to resist the temptation to doll it up is special.

BeepBeep's Road Runner might be one of a very few left that are that way. Especially being a 383 3-speed manual model. Although having a radio and a stripe on the car sort of made it loaded in the eyes of a kid buying a car. Generally in the old days. The cars that had the fewest options. Seemed to be the ones that got run into the ground, and junked. The more options. Guys seemed to take care of them better. Probably because they had to pay more for the car! The strippers were used as price leaders in the newspapers and TV ads to get you into the dealership to buy one. Then they tried talking you into buying something else once you were at the dealership. It was a trick that is still used today by the dealerships.

M21 is the drip molding, which was standard on a RR (RM23)
N41 is the dual exhaust, again, standard.
F81 is the "decklid release" according to my info. That would be a very rare option on anything other than a taxi cab Satellite.

If you really want scrutinize it, there are additional options that would not necessarily have appeared on the fender tag, like wheel options. These are shown on the broadcast sheet.

I'm pretty sure that the 383 was standard on a road runner, as was the 3 SPD manual transmission. If I'm wrong please tell me, I'm not afraid to learn. Were the stripes standard, too? I thought that was part if the road runner package? Are there no percentages listed for radio delete, or stripe delete? The am radio could have been standard and part of the road runner package as well. Someone added a go wing, I think that is the only thing added.

383 was standard. Later in the year, the 340 became available as a no cost option.

Stripes were optional, as was the radio.

Decklid release was not available on a 71 road runner. This is a mystery code that shows up on a lot of Winsor built B bodies in 71.

With both V8X and V21, your car came with the A87 road runner decor package. That would have included wheel opening mouldings, the delux 3 spoke steering wheel (unless an optional tuff wheel or rim blow wheel was ordered) rear bumper/lower valance blackout, and upgraded upper door panels.
B11 drum brakes were standard with B41/B51 power/disc optional. The only way to know what came originally on your car would be to look at the broadcast sheet.

E beginning the VON (vehicle order number) designates a "build for export" car

Thanks for the info! I looked at the broadcast sheet and am trying to figure it all out. There is no power steering or power brakes on the car. The wheels are rally wheels, but I do not know if they were 14 or 15 originally. There are aftermarket wheels on now.

You can determine wheels and wheel/tire size from the broadcast sheet. Line 2 category T-U-W Tires will list the code for your tires/size. Line 4 category Wheels - Road lists the last two numbers of the part number for your wheels. If you don't know how to decode this, let me know what is listed and I can tell you. Better yet, post a pic of your broadcast sheet.
