What is a fair value for a 72 SSP

Post by moparmike » Tue Mar 01, 2011 5:59 pm

Hi Everyone, Here is the scenerio.....A guy down here has asked me if I wanted to sell my 72 SSP for the last 2 years, at first I thought he was just scratching the floor but he is very serious and wants me to throw a price at him..............originally I said it was not for sale.....but then I found and purchased a 71 GTX and although I love the SSP.....I would soon get over selling it and move onto restoring the 71 GTX.

My SSP is a California car and is rust free...the interior is original the seats have no rips in them the only thing that needs attention is the dash pad... it is cracked. I recently installed a 1967 440 engine with the matching 727 trans it has lots of power and drives great. Rebuilt stock 3 core rad, air, It is as solid a platform as there is for sure. I also put in a posi rear end and new dual exhaust. I kept the original 318/904. My car has the original bill of sale and build sheets...what is the fair market value.

Id say 13K min especially since you have the org. engine to go with it.
Not too often you see rust free/excellent condition-set up for fun

I agree with 72Satellite440. No less than 13K. Old car price guide has cond 3 at 8,500 and cond 2 at 13,300. Given that you have the original drive train for it, I would not let it go cheap. You cant take a project 72SSP and make it look like yours for anything close to 13K unless you do virtually all the work yourself! Good luck with whatever you decide!

To be truthfully honest- The value has nothing to do with the car. You should appreciate American Muscle History and Drive that SSP  . Just worry about how you want the car to look and hold on to it. Pass it down when you get older. 8)

Thanks guys I was thinking that it was worth 13k if I did'nt have the 71 GTX I would not even consider letting her go as she has been nothing but a joy to own

Well when it was all said and done.................... I just could not let her go. Call me crazy but I just could not see me not owning my SSP the guy really wants her but I just could'nt do it it. I did tell him that I would be happy to let him take it out for a drive with me once the snow is gone.
