No, I am not looking for a new car. I just thought the description was interesting.

GTX option package?

“I have been trying desperately to see if that original owner ordered the RR with the GTX option package minus the 440 auto, with the 340 Pistol Grip 4 Speed! (Mopar did some crazy things back then)”

I don’t think so.

Yes the GTX option with the 340 engine is when someone bought a hand full of GTX emblems and drilled holes in the fenders and trunk and mounted them. :D

Cause you know Roadrunners were only so-so but if you add GTX on it you can ask for 20x times as much. :P

Aside from the GTX bull I like the car. A 340 is starting to look better every day. I am sure the reserve is pretty high, probably wont sell.

I do know that in 72 the GTX was added to the roadrunner package and carried both names. But I thought that the GTX was a sticker and not a emblem, and also the GTX was a 440, were a roadrunner was a 400 or smaller.

Don't quote me on this though! I could be wrong!

For 72’ the standard engine for the Road Runner was the 400 with the 340 and 440 being options. There were what, around 680 RR’s built that year with the 440. Along with the 440 you got torque boxes and three small GTX emblems (no stickers). Starting with the 72’ model year the 440 is the “GTX option package”. BTW at some point those small GTX emblems became stick-on, no need to drill anything.

Yip anything with GTX on it should have either have a 440 or a 426 hemi in it.

No Hemi’s offered in 72’ but if you can find any 72’ v-coded (440 6bbl) RM’s it would have GTX badges as well.

It has a 1971 GTX rocker molding trim, no front and rear spoilers available for 1972 and why does everyone put a 1970 spoiler on??? because it's $200 cheaper than the 1971 spoiler??? also is that a 1973 and up single snorkle air cleaner?, no AC on the car but H51 AC and a 4-speed is rather unusual! is that the wrong steering column? ... no key ignition lock?

And Yes you needed to order a 440 4v or 440 6v car in 1972 to get the GTX emblems on your RR!

Those are worth some bucks!!
no front and rear spoilers available for 1972
Can't fault adding them 'cause they sure help the looks
and why does everyone put a 1970 spoiler on??? because it's $200 cheaper than the 1971 spoiler???
Agreed
no AC on the car but H51 AC and a 4-speed is rather unusual!
Definitely a neat combo at the lower latitudes. I don't know that I've seen another 340 4 spd A/C RR
is that the wrong steering column? ... no key ignition lock?
It's got the lock.

Overall a very nice combination, but I suspect the cars has some issues beneath the surface. We'll see if it hits reserve.
