COMPUTER HELP!

Can someone here, help me in figuring this problem out. I have DSL hooked up to my computer.
The problem I'm starting to have is that a box will come up saying something to the effect "Microsoft has a problem and needs to end" . It says that it needs to send an error report. You have a choice : dont send a report or send a report. Either way, you loose your place on the internet. The funny thing is it usually happends when I'm on or trying to get on MOPARTS . This is really frustrating. Does anyone have an idea? I have virus protection, etc.

Windows has nothing to do with it.Its what you use for internet.Firefox is has better layouts and runs with no problems.

You have some kind of virus or other problem that's making IE (Internet Explorer) crash. I had something like that myself a few years ago.

Go here and get AVG, a free virus scanner/cleaner:

You may want to devote an hour or so when you download these to let your machine run both scans and clean itself up. Be sure to exit IE or any other internet browser type program first.

Also, it's not a bad idea to try Firefox if you're still using an old version of IE, but really the newer versions of Microsoft's browser are much more resistant to spyware and bugs than they used to be.

A virus wouldn't be causing that problem,thats merely a bad connection between his internet browser and his service.High speed internet and internet explorer don't mix well.

My brother in law put linux on both of my puters. I like the simplicity of it and everything downloaded and it's free (anti virus,pop up blocker,ect.) without using too much memory. You can keep windows on your puter or you can totally wipe out windows.

I would download a free browser first and see how that works,I use opera,firefox is good to.Run a lot of anti spamware,I go to PC World to get the best free stuff to scan my computer,rootbots,antispam,antivirus(I use Avast) also anything that will scan your registry for problems.Good luck!

I know this is neither here nor there, but I really like UNIX-based operating systems, presuming the user is savvy enough. I don't much care for any of the X-Windows based GUIs... they just can't seem to nail it. One thing I don't like about Linux is how it seems so pieced--no, hacked--together, and it is. The reason why Macs are so good is that, not only are they UNIX-based (there really isn't a need for anti-spyware, pop-up blockers, anti-virus software, etc.), but it's one big team on the same page which means the software is developed for the hardware (or is that vice versa?), giving the whole end-user experience a nice, smooth, complete feel versus the "hacked up" feel Linux and (sigh) even FreeBSD is. I used to run FreeBSD exclusively, and that experience was a lot better than Linux. Installing software and resolving dependencies was just a matter of issuing "make install" from within a "skeletal" ports tree, which would go out and grab all the required file data from the Internet. It was really spiffy. Right now, I'm running an "ancient" iMac G5 with Mac OS X Leopard installed. Once you go Mac, you'll never go back. I don't even own a PC anymore, and I was a huge PC fan. I thought I was elite because I would add a blazing video card or overclock my CPU, and all so I could play games. Now I recommend a game box for games and a Mac for everything else since they're not very good at games since they have mostly integrated video cards and whatnot. Don't get me wrong, the latest Macs are Core 2 Duos and are lightning fast, but they don't have the same potential as a modern $500 video card you can buy and stick in your PC.

Anyway, the point is, I forgot all the hoops you Windows users have to go through just to get work done. I mean, why is there something interfering with you trying to surf a web site? I don't get it. So many problems... My dad runs Vista 64-bit and while I initially liked the interface, it's so pokey on his AMD 3000+. That OS needs a Core 2, minimum, and lots of RAM.

Anyway, just rambling and hopefully not offending or starting a flame war...

I'm getting a little . I went to PC World online. There they have a zillion things that are "free" downloads to check your computer for any performance issues. So I downloaded a couple of programs. The results are that they say you have this and that thing wrong. I'm thinking cool, O.K, need to fix them. In order for the program to remove the items that are effecting the computer you have to purchase them. Also, they say to enter the product serial number. How do you get this when you downloaded it from the site? So the bottom line is the downloads arent "free" at all, just a waste of time?

Go do yourself a favor like I did. I have a few PC's and now switched to a Mac's and love them. Never a problem ever. Don't even run anti virus or spyware programs!! Fast,Fun & headache free. Ohhhhh I still us the PC's only when I have to. But getting fewer and farther between.
