Musclecar Magazine 73/74 cars

Post by aerodynamic » Fri May 16, 2008 9:09 am

Well, I never thought the day would come, but there's a really nice article about the 73/74 cars in the current edition of Musclecar Enthusiast. Beautiful cars shown and a very pleasant write up. This is only the beginning for us 73/74 guys.

Sorry for the delay. Here's the article's front page. For the record, my first Runner looked identical to the red one pictured.

^ i've noticed that with mopars a lot of people are obsessed with numbers, proper paint, has to be a hi-po car, etc. but with the chevy guys, someone can put a big block, stripes, etc. like a chevelle on a malibu and nobody cares....personally, i consider them all the smae car - I'M NOT A MODEL RACIST

But When your doing something like an article on a car,It does count,Your not gonna learn anything about satellites from an article about rrs's

I dont mind learning about rrs,but id rather lean more about satellites

Let's not forget the title of this website is ROADRUNNER NEST. At the risk of stating the obvious, there's a good chance upon entering the site that one will encounter information about Road Runners. The fact is, you should be happy for someone else when they've found information or recognition for their classic car. You seem to have a bit of inferiority complex about owning a Satellite. There's nothing wrong with them, I've owned four or five. I love them all, I've even had 4-door models I enjoyed. There are some facts you're going to have to face if you want to stay sane. Satellites will never be as valuable as Road Runners. 73/74 Satellites and Road Runners will never be as valuable as 71/72 cars. Non-Hemi of 6-Pak cars will never be as valuable as their Hemi/6-Pak counterparts. If you want to be popular, maybe you better get out of Mopars all together, because it's a lot EASIER to be a Chevy guy.

SMELLSLIKE, what I'm starting to smell from you smells more like jealousy and resentment than Mopar brotherhood. I recommend you grow up a little.

roadrunners verses satellites

Post by ROGERLEE » Mon May 19, 2008 12:36 am

hi, just read your reply to smellslike, i think you are being kinda mean to him, everybody can't own roadrunners, if they did they wouldn't be worth what they are now, might as well be driving a chevette, i have owned 3 roadrunners, two 73's and a 74, presently i own a 71 sebring plus, just sold my 73 cuda 340 pistol grip,,,,,i guess what i'm getting at is people drive what they can afford, or what they love, and people get rid of cars because of different reasons, just remember we are all mopar brothers, walk a mile in smellslike moccasins (probably smelly) lol, but when you own and love a car, and no one writes articles or does any sort of research or literature about the cars people love they kinda get aggravated, i bet everytime you look at a mopar mag, it has something about roadrunners be it 68 or 78.......no sundance....every blue moon a sebring, well thats my 2 cents

If you'll go back and read what I wrote, you'll see that I said there's nothing wrong with owning a Satellite. It's Smellslike who seems to have a problem with Road Runner owners and related information. He had a choice of how to respond, and chose to whine about the article subject being about Road Runners. I prefer to support any information anyone can get about their cars, whatever they chose to drive. And, for the record, I have a great article about 74/74 Satellites in a mag I bought at an airport last year. They're starting to get a little recognition too, but if he wants people to be inclined to help him out he'd better learn to be a little more respectful of others.

Question about the 74 Roadrunners--not to hijack the Hatfield and McCoys--has anyone ever seen the solid roof over stripe on a 74 bird rather than the strobe?

I know that they put the roof over strobe on the early 74's--surplus of leftover material from 73--but the later 74 birds came with solid roof over stripes.

I've never seen one on a car.

I'm interested in both Satellites and Road Runners (I mean how could you not be, they're the same body?) I doubt SmellsLike wants a Road Runner because he has a pretty unique Satellite and 73/74 Road Runners are easily had anyway. But yeah, if the tables were turned, and I had to read a Satellite article, I would be interested just because I do own a Road Runner. But if I wasn't, I would just move on to the next message in the forum.

But on the other hand, I don't think he was really complaining, sounded more like disappointment because he likes Satellites and maybe is a little distressed that there is lack of coverage on them since all people talk about are RRs/GTXs. I understand, because if you look at E-bay prices, even the base '71-'74 Charger goes for a premium. I never understand how the base Charger is different than a Satellite in terms of desire and overinflation? I guess I should've held onto my nothing-special (except flip-up headlights) '72 10 years ago which I only got $650 for. It would be worth $6000 today easily.

How am I being disrespectful?
And Jealous?Id take a Satellite over an Road Runner any day.

First of all,If I'm not mistaking, you titled the subject of your topic "Muscle Car Magazine 73/74 cars"

yes the site is titled "Road Runner nest"But you know all to well its not just for Road Runners...

So upon clicking your topic I figured It was gonna be satellite and rrs,but no just rr's.
If It said "Road Runner 73/74 Cars",I would have known Its about Road Runners,or I wouldn't have opened It at all.

And I just love when people pull up the whole age thing, yeah,"Im 18 years old,I must not have a damn clue about what Im talking about,I bought my car because I need a table with wheels, every opinion and statement I make is a purposely cleverly disguises insult that offends you."

Im not the one that needs to grow up here.

Then why don't you go start a Satellite website. Then you won't have to look at any Road Runners. My car is as much a Satellite as a Z28 is a Camaro. Don't be stupid. Furthermore, do you seriously expect someone to put a little disclaimer on the header of a post saying "This post not for Satellite owners" so you don't acidentally see it then feel the need to respond to it anyway? Tell me, what was stopping you from just saying nothing and moving on to a post more geared towards your interests?
