Road Runner Nest

I just found this site. Lots of info. I just picked up a black 71 340 Road Runner.It has very few options. I bought it from the original owner in Virginia.

I searched around and couldn't find anything on swapping to disc brakes. Does anyone know what cars would be compatible to swap spindles and caliper brackets from?

i can get rotors,calipers,hoses,bearings etc at the local napa. I just need to know what type of car to try and rob parts from.

I'm thinking a volare or dart will work. I want to keep my 14" wheels too.

Yep, later A body and F body disk brakes are a common swap to upgrade the brakes on our B bodies. This swap has been written up in all the major Mpar mags. You might try checking out what they have available for back issues...

Thanks, I've been looking through some old mopar muscle books. I need to rebuild the whole front-end anyway.

I saw some spindles on ebay for $300.00+. I think thats a little too high. Time to check out the junkyards.

E-body spindles will work also.

I grabbed a set off of a 73 challenger- because they had the bigger diameter bearings than the 71/2 units. Which makes the cost of replacing the disks much cheaper. That in itself is worth it. However, I foundout later that the 73/4 units have one other neat advantage.

If you use a caliper mount off of a C body, you can move up to the C bodies bigger disk as well. Adds an extra inch to the disk diameter which helps in the braking dept. However- that REQUIRES 15" wheels for clearance. I gotta get my butt to the yard. I know where a few of the seas are sitting.

Definately go to the "yard" I got the spindles and mounts for $125.

I believe you can get a kit to switch to the original style discs, but they're really expensive. So are the SSBC and Baer kits. I think the Wilwood kit is the best deal, maybe around $600 instead of $1000. Might as well go searching as usual, eh?
