Road Runner Nest

I have a 1972 Satellite Sebring Plus. The car will never be worth enough to cover the restoration, so I am considering changing it to a roadrunner clone. What are some of the differences? I believe the car already has the roadrunner interior.

Interior would be the high line bucket seats (standard on SSP) dash would be rallye dash w/ 150 MPH speedo (also same as RR).
All you need is a RR hood, Grille, black RR tail light lenses, front bezel with RR decal, RR emblem on pass side dash, (remove all SSP and Plymouth emblems), dual snorkle air cleaner and put on any stripe of your liking (3 to choose from for 1972 ... OK 1 had to have the N96 hood option.).
SSP's were top of the line for Satellites and had most RR goodies (sway bars?).
Have I missed anything?

Well the RR came standard with the HD Drums, if you have disks- its a moot point. The BB cars did not have a rear anti-sway bar because the HD tbars and rear springs gave the bias the engineers were looking for. Small block cars did have the rear anti-sway bars. due to using a smaller diameter front T-bar.

Now- my question is this: Why would you want to make a RR clone? I know the RR/GTX are the percieved "hot" cars. IMO a SSP is a hot car too, AND they are much rarer today. In fact I can't think of the last time I saw an SSP. It's just the name- you can always add the go fast/handling goodies to bring the performance up to snuff with the X's and chickens.

I hate to tell you this but none of us will get what the cars are worth. It doesn't matter, we have them simply because they are THE HOTTEST CARS OF THE ERA. GTX/ RR/SSP- they ALL ROCK!!

I have had 2 72 big block roadrunners and both of them had front and rear sway bars.

Absolutley, if they both had the optional S-15 Hemi suspension installed, not the standard HD S-13 RR/GTX suspension. Well... unless it was a hemi car, then the S-15 was standard fair.

There are alot of combos involved in the suspensions. Standard HD (S-13) would have included the rear bar on a SB- but not on a BB for 71/2 -due to differences in engine weight, rear springpacks, t-bars, and wheel/tire combo's used.

Since hnau was talking of converting ( not restoring) an SSP over- I aimed my comments at knowing the biggest engine was 383 and more probably a SB car. The standard HD package (S13), would be as stated with one exception. I said smaller tbars- I meant bigger t-bars. Sorry about that.

I'm very interested in this topic as I'm converting my '72 SS to an unbadged RR clone - BB with HD suspension components. I already secured the front swaybar, and am getting ready to score the bigger diameter torsion bars (0.96") from MP. What I don't know is if I need a rear swaybar. I'd go aftermarket since originality isn't an issue.

Ok. Give me a day and I will start a new thread. We've hi-jack hnau's enough. Besides I think the suspension issue (s) deserves it's own thread.

regardless of whether it is 100% correct, remember, the car is a clone. I'd go with the rear bar. I have a factory one on my 71RR (not factory correct) and the handling difference between it and my other big block RR is HUGE.
