Correct 383 Air Cleaner for 71

Post by orangerunner » Wed Oct 12, 2005 6:23 pm

I looked up the engine options in the original 1971 Plymouth Satellite dealer brochure and noticed that the 383 four-barrel engine was illustrated with a single snorkel air cleaner. The specs written beneath it also stated a single snorkel.

The 440 for the GTX was listed as having a dual snorkel air cleaner. Most of the Road Runner restorations I have seen and old road test photos show the 383 with a dual snorkel.

Was this simply a misprint in the original dealer brochure? Did the 383 four barrel Satellite Sebring Plus comes with a single snorkel? Double snorkel for the Road Runner?

Let me know if you have any ideas what would be correct.

I would say for 1971 and 1972 4bbl carb cars got dual snorkle air cleaners 73 and up diiferent story 73-74 340 4v has a single snorkle.
