Heater / Vent Question for 1971

For a car with no A/C and no Strato Ventil, it appears to me that the heater unit shares it's fresh air supply with the right side fresh air vent. Damper "closed" sends air into the heater. Damper open sends it into the cabin. Is this correct?
If the car has A/C does it come in the same way? Same way with Strato Vent?

Have to answer my own question. Thanks to my trusty borescope, I could see that there is no air passage in the center of the cowl down toward the trans hump to feed the heater box. So, yes, air enters via the right side vent tube.
I know everybody is very excited to learn this.

Yes you are correct. Should have a vent cable for the pass side as well as the drivers side.
