Fuel vapor separator

Post by GTX158 » Tue Sep 30, 2014 9:53 am

Need some more help guys, I have no idea where exactly the vapor separator goes and what lines go where. I'm lost, never had one for reference its for a 71 440 non/ac car. Looks like it bolts on by the horns on passenger side? Pictures, diagrams, anything would be GREAT!

Which are you talking about? Fuel vapor separator or charcoal canister? The separator is mounted with the fwd bolt on the fuel pump.

screen caps from the factory service manual

Inlet comes from the fuel pump

Return goes to a line that runs back to the fuel tank, into the side on the passenger side.

Outlet goes to carburetor

You guys are AWESOME, great info as always, but one question related to this. Where in order does fuel filter go? Before fuel pump? Before Carb? Not sure .

Been trying to do some research on this all day, and found some info. Not sure if this is correct but some info says 440HP with fuel vapor separator did not have fuel filter, the separator also acts as fuel filter. Anyone know if this is correct.

That's correct, the separator cars don't have a filter.
