3 nipple breather and air cleaner vacuum hook up

Post by kenny » Sun Dec 01, 2013 10:30 pm

my engine was apart when i got it and i am not sure where everything for the breather and air cleaner hook up and ive been unable to find pics i know on the breather the one nipple goes to the fuel vent line, and the largest one goes to a hose that wraps around the air cleaner and to the snorkle, where does the other go? if to the pcv valve then do i just cap the port on base of carb? also on the bottom of my air cleaner is a set of small hoses going to the flappers in the snorkles but where does other small loose hose go to a manifold vacuum? any pics would help a lot also this car is a 383 no power brake no a/c car i think that matters when choosing the intake manifold vaccum port? the vacuum line i have in place at this time are the one that goes from choke pull off to side of carb and the one that goes from the front of carb to the distributor. any info and pics would help a lot.

I do believe that the third port connects to the carburetor bowl vent, if you still have one.
The following thread has a picture of the air cleaner hose routing.

From the breather on the passengers side, one goes to carb float bowel vent, one goes to the air cleaner, and one goes to the vapor return line on the inner fender. That is if it's there.

I think manual page 9A-6 shows better whats goes where. They call the "breather" a crankcase air cleaner. One connection goes to the fuel system vapor recovery tank. Another goes to the carb. vapor line. These may have check valves. The third connection goes to the air cleaner.
