looking at buying a rear spoiler in the near future.
I have a 71 roadrunner and I can't for the life of me remeber which one was for which year.
Also what are your guys thoughts on aftermarket rear spoilers? who makes the best? or should I wait till i can find a good used one?

Not the Go Wing for 70's

Gull wing looks a lot better on our cars in my opinion, but factory correct seems to be hit and miss throughout the 71 model year. This original owner survivor, with a scheduled build date fairly late in the model year (4/30/71) has the 70 style go wing and the original owner confirms it's been there since he bought the car new (and the tag is coded for it).

I've been debating about which one to buy - Since my build is not a numbers matching build (no broadcast sheet or fender tage ) debating which to use, the go-wings seem to be half the price of the gull wings. Have you guys seen any repos you liked that look factory?

It's sort a matter of personal preference. I never cared for the '70 style wing because of my age. In other words, being 65. I used to see them on Ford Mustangs first back then, and on the Mercury Cylone Spoiler models. Being a Mopar man, and seeing a Ford wing on a Mopar didn't cut it for me. So naturally I liked it when they came out with the gull wing. Be careful on which '70 style wing you buy if you plan to go that route. In other words, cheap doesn't mean that it's good. Years ago when they first came out with the '70 style wing we used to joke about the wing being a sun dial. The hotter it got during the day the wing would bow up more in the middle. When it cooled off, and got cooler. It tended to sag down in the middle. it never stayed perfectly straight. It was one of the ways we could tell if someone had the original wing, or a repro on their car. By the way, on the Ford wing it came two ways, plastic and metal. The drag pack Mustangs got the metal one for more weight on the backend of the car.

I agree!, I always think of the wing as a ford part, 'cause of all the '69-'73 fastbacks I've seen with them.
In fact I'm sure that's why I don't like the wing on earlier b bodies at all. On our cars, go with the gull wing.
Maybe they'd take it back if you were unhappy with the quality.

thanks for the input! I've decided I'll probably end up sticking with the gull wing - com'on christmas!

I concur with Eric
