Has anyone ever taken a electronic voltage regulator apart to fix it ? Talking about one of the 69-72 factory ones with the bump on the front?

Because you can't get a Correct one anywhere. The date codes are all wrong, and they don't have the bump on them that the assembly line ones had. Even the dealer ones didn't have that.

Why don't you try swapping the guts from a new one, they're cheap and you wouldnt have anything to loose.

Well, I've thought of that if I could safely get it apart. The problem is getting the potting out without messing up the guts. I found three that had the bump, and repainted them and had them silkscreened with a proper date code. But these things are 40 years old and they didn't last that long back then, so it would be nice to take a new one and do as you said or repair the old one. I tried burning the potting out but that didn't work so I'm back to square one. It's like everything else with repo parts, they went to all the trouble to make those repos but left the bump off which is defeats the whole idea of the factory look.
