Are the brackets natural metal colour? Mine was so rusted, I could not really see anything, a little bit of black paint on some bits, but otherwise just rusted. My car is TX9
Thanks

I believe those would have been painted satin (not flat) black when new... they were/are on my Runner.

Thanks Bruce, I appreciate the quick reply. As I have said, I did found small traces of black paint, so satin black it is going to be

When you say "bumper brackets" are you speaking of the ones that mount the bumper to the frame, or the ones in the picture that are attached to the bumper? The latter (in your picture) are the ones that attach the grille to the bumper itself.
Here's some pix of what they look like as I took them off my 1972 Road Runner. It's an original one owner car so what you see is what rolled off the Saint Louis assembly line in 1972. The pix were taken in 2003 when I disassembled the car. They appear to have been painted black, although it's a little hard to tell, as I had the car Ziebarted so some of the black paint is covered by the Ziebart stuff.
This is the left and right grille brackets.
Here's the brackets that attach the head light buckets to the bumper.
This is the "whole nine yards" which includes all the parts for installing the grille. I sand blasted all the parts on my car, then had them powder coated before I put it back together.
Finally, if you are looking for a "how to" installation of the '72 Road Runner grille, here's a series of pictures I took when I installed mine. The slide show viewing gives you an overview, while each picture give the detail.
