How do our cars look with rims larger than 17 inches? I am putting W23 magnums on my bird and was looking at wheel vintiques. They offer the magnum rims in 14 and 15 inches but also offer them up to 17 inches! So are any of you guys running larger than stock wheels on your birds and how do they look? I was just gonna get some 15x7 just to maintain a stock look and I had a buddy give me some BFGoodrich 285/75/SR15 white letter tires brand new, but now I'm curious about these larger wheels.

You might consider the American Racing AR500s. Similar style, much less expensive.

Anyone else got big rims? I've had a hard time adjusting to the trend of putting big wheels with low pro tires on older mopars. But on our cars for some reason it just looks right. I do like the american racing version shown on that black challenger though. It would save me a lot of money. The good thing about the restoration is that all the original parts are there on the car. I can even re-use my original exhaust because it only has minor surface rust (BIG BONUS). The only part of the car I need to replace is the passenger quarter panel from when it was hit in 77' (former owner explained).

So now I can spend good money on some wheels and get good materials so I can paint the car without having the expense of a completely aftermarket engine. If my girlfriend gets me on overhaulin, I told her "Make sure you remember the word HEMI!".

Let me correct myself. It's stockton wheels that sell the larger wheels not vintique.

Those large diameter steel magnums are really heavy... and they don't look right. You essentially have a itty bitty 14" center stuffed in a 17" rim.

Wheel Vintiques has a billet version, but they are wicked expensive.

The Magnum style is not one that scales-up really well, but American Racing has the best interpretation I've seen so far.

If you do want the steel Magnums, look up Specialty Wheel. Better prices and much better customer service from what I've heard.

Those are 15X8. I did put the polished rings on after those pix. Since then, I put 17X8 with the V rated rubber. Handles way better and still retains the proper rubber to wheel look. Key is the V rated rubber. It gives the car more of that vintage look.
I agree, Specialty Wheel is great to deal with.

Been doing a little shopping around on the AR500s. Seems there are some pretty good deals to be had.

You can't buy a set of steel ones with caps for that price.

Got a 71 black on black Roadrunner parked in my garage right now belonging to a buddy. He's in the market for some wheels. I think I'm going to be steering him towards these.

That is a good deal right there. I might go with those billet wheels even though they're not stock. I didn't know AR made a billet magnum until you showed me pics on that chally.

I believe the centers are cast, not billet, hence the affordable price. I might be wrong about that though.

I have 20 X 10 on the back and 18's on the front and of my 71' RR and it looks great. (IMHO) Drop me a PM with your email and I will forward you some pics. I have Foose Nitro's that I pcked up through "MR. Wheel Deal" with tire mounted,balanced and shipped $2250 total. I would alway check with MWD first as he is going to be the cheapest for all styles/brands of rims, believe me I shopped alot before I finally went through him. My local dist. here in MI told me I paid 300 less then his cost and he couldn't compete for the sale.
