Cam selection for 440 build, torque converter too.

So I'm tossed up between the XE274H and the XE268H from comp cams.

The gtx is an automatic with 3.23 rear. I don't have a torque converter selected yet (help there too). I'll be running a holley 750, and one of the aluminum manifolds...probably a street dominator (maybe a torker)

I'm going to stick below .500 lift, i'll most likely be running Iron heads (either 346's or 906's)

I'm looking at KB237's, but am pretty open on pistons too. I don't know my deck height, as everything has arrived in pieces...

what do ya think? any recommendations?

kinda depends what you want, but i put in an XE268 with stock converter and highway gears with 26.5" tires and i love it...the street dominator is probably a better choice for keeping up the low end, yet if you're changing converters, it probably doesn't matter much...i probably could have went up another step to the 274, but i really didn't want to mess with my converter or rear end and i'd rather play it safe

sounds like a freight train at idle, still makin power at 70 mph, and has a bit of grunt down low too, even with the cruising set-up

the only set thing is the rear end (keeping the 3.23's) there's a blue mystery TC in the 727 I bought (out of a 440 C-body)...maybe a call to TCI would help to see if a converter would work with the 274 and the 3.23's

I don't need to build a monster, but premium doesn't scare me too much. I considered E85 too...

I saw the car today...it looks great...

my converter is a stock c-body piece from a 76 police car (that's what i'm assuming - a 440HP in a c body, based on the info i've taken from the motor)...it is also blue
