My canister is located up inside my left rear quarter panel. Seems to be factory mounted. Sometimes I have fuel leaking out from it. I think I have the vent hose conncted correctly. The fuel tank is not leaking. It's a mystery to me. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Bill

If you take off the metal shields (there are two of them), you'll see 4 rubber gas lines running to it. Chances are if they're original they have cracked from age and that's where you're getting leaks....may be cracked up farther were you can't easily see it.....

Yep, just as Eric says... I've replaced all those rubber lines on my car too, because they leaked.

Thanks guys. I do smell gas when I fill the tank and could not find the source. Those lines must be leaking. I'll check and get back to you. Is that usaul that the canister is located back there?
Thanks,
Bill

Should only be a problem when you overfill the tank, as those lines come off the top front of the tank IIRC.

FYI, the vapor separator was redesigned and moved to a location directly above the deferential mid year 72. Beginning about April production 72 thru 74 the fuel tank vent nipples for the separator are located on the front upper edge of the tank. Factory must have identified a problem pretty early on.
