Was the Air Grabber hood offered paired with the 440? I am assuming not since its a BB and would be taller than the 340.

The hood itself is no different for various motors, the only difference is the air cleaner base

Right, so I am assuming there were 440's paired with the fresh air option?

The air grabber hood you are talking about was in fact extremely popular with the 340 400 and 440 engine set up
the rare being the 340 6 pack and 440 6 pack

Thank you both for your helpful answers. :D Does anyone know of anyplace that sells used or reproduction air filter base plates for a 440 w/ Air Grabber hood?

Sure do

For the Road Runner and GTX, you could order an Air Grabber with any motor available. 340, 383, 400 (for the 72s), 440-4v, 440+6 and Hemi. There was no such animal offered in 71 as the 340+6, and that motor was never offered in a B-body. It was a T/A and AAR exclusive.

There is one of the fiberglass companies doing reproduction air cleaner assemblies, but I don't have a link handy. Just remember that in 71, the 4bbl cars used the oval baseplate, but still had a round lid and element, unlike the 70 cars. The 6bbl and Hemi still used the oval lids and elements of course.

I have a 383 with a Edelbrock Torker intake in my '71 RR.

I am installing an Air Granbber hood on my car, and was wondering how far off the 340 base would be...
