A/C heater box restore?

Post by fourforty6pac » Wed May 02, 2007 11:36 pm

Ive been looking for the foam gasket set to restore my A/C heater box. The problem is I can only find the non A/C kit. How different are the e body a/c boxes from the b body? Im asking this I can find the e body kits for A/C. Unless someone has a source for the b body kit????????

I wasn't able to find any either.

I bought some thing foam and cut my own for all the doors, then spray adhesived them on. I haven't yet found a decent piece to make that big square that goes around the vent duct, but I need to cuz it smells really bad from all the mice that were in the heater system.

Yea I thought about making my own gaskets too. I was hoping to find it in a kit just to speed things along. I might buy the non a/c kit anyway Im sure some if not most of the gaskets will work, but I will have to make some of them.
Maybe someone knows if the e body ones are the same or at least close.
It's getting better for us all the time. It seems there are new repop stuff for our cars being made all the time. There was a time when nothing for our cars was repoped.

Have you tried Jim Fillmore over at Detroit Muscle Technologies. He has the best repro gaskets available IMHO. And, if he doesn't have it yet, if you provide him something to work from, he'll make one.
He's also a member over on moparts, 71TA.

He can be reached at:

heater box

Jim has some good stuff. I sent him my front parking lights and side ones to make gaskets. They are good. I've been wainting for him to make a heater box gasket kit for A/C cars. He hasn't made them yet, at least the last time I talked to him.

Good news, I emailed him and he promptly answered. I offered to send him all the gaskets and he told me he just got an a/c heater box and he is planning to to have the set available within a few weeks, he might be able to get started this weekend. Thats one more thing off my list,
