I am in the rocess of collecting parts for my next project. It is going to be a bare bones 71 RR, either a 383 or a 340 w/3 speed manual trans. Is there a difference in the big block trans. and the small block trans.? I know the bellhousings are different. Would an a body trans work? It's kind of funny but the parts for the bare bones are priced out of this planet, like a radio delete ralley bezel. I wish I would have hung on to the one that I had, but the guy that bought it made me an offer only a true mopar freak would.

Thanks 71_deputy. One more thing, hopefully you might know if the shifter and shifter rods are interchangable? Im guessing that the shifter will work but the rods are a different animal. The shifter handle and the boot look alike, but I think I will go with a pistol grip and put the 3 speed shift indicater lense on it.

rods will change between a, e, and b bodies as the lenght is different due to where the shifter mounts.
shifters should be the same but the handles will be different due to a, e, b bodies!
