Hi guys,
I have a question regarding the "cat whiskers" on the outside of the rear quarter windows of my 71 RR. I bought the complete set (8 pcs.) from the Paddock, the ones for the doors match perfect, the ones for the rear doesn't. On their webpage the set is listed as 71-73 RR, but the rear panel and window are quite diffrent on 73 from 71-72 and from what I can see the strips fit 73 only!!
Now, I've talket to the Paddock and they were very helpful. They are sending me a new set of inner strips extra lenght for me to cut in the right lenght. But the outer strips are too short for my 71 RR too, so my question is: do anyone know where to get the right ones for a 71 RR?
Thanks,
Capsule

I had a semi-similar situation with the ones I got for my 1972 Roadrunner.
I had to actually bend them (BE CAREFUL, VERY CAREFUL) slightly but they eventually did fit. Biggest problem is the clips on the new ones are of a different style than the stock ones. and the slots in the window frame didn't line up exactly. I had to do some filing work to get them to fit. Not much and only on one of the slots on each side. (naturally the one the most difficult to get to…!)
One other issue on some of them. The original whisker strips are stapled to the trim pieces, both door and rear quarters. The new ones use small screws instead of the staples. At the very rear of the quarter window panels there was a bit of interference from these very screws and the little bracket that sticks up to hold them. Had to take a pair of side cutters and snip off the end of the screw. No biggie, just didn't discover it until I was actually putting the interior panel back in. Had I known it ahead of time I would have cut them all off. Just something to consider in case you have similar panels and whisker strips.

Thanks guys,
I have sent both First Place Auto Products and Year One a mail asking if they can help out.
The strips for my front panels and doors fit just fine. The outer ones are fitted with screws, the inner ones with stamples as original.
The ones on the inside of the C-pillar I am re-using since they are in good shape.
The ones for the outside of the quater window are black, not aluminium and they are too short for a 71-72 window.
The ones for the rear inside panels are too short too but I'm getting longer ones from The Paddock.

NO ONE makes accurate window felts!!! I've been hoping someone will step up to the task of doing a correct reproduction for years. The ones FPAP are no exception. You'll notice too the cross section on originals is round where the reproductions are a U shape with the top open. How tough could it be to make them right!
