Hey guys,
I recently bought a dash harness (used) from an ebay store. It was supposed to be the harness to fit 73 b-body, rallye dash. The harness has a module on it that my old one doesn't. Does that mean it's for a regular panel? It also seems to be missing grounds for some of the guages, so I assume a panel with idiot lights has a circuit board type ground for the lights?

What do you mean by "module"? do you mean it has a circular plug? If so that is for the standard panel. It can be used on a rallye dash, but you need to cut and splice to each guage, light.
Now- pertainig to the "grounds" on Rallye dashes...
The each individual guage(s) sending unit- provides the ground source- through a resistive sensor-Fuel, Oil Pressure, Temp. The ammeter has it's own wires, As does each dash light be it for the " brake" light or illuminating light. These lights use the frame of the dash panel for ground.
Now, the three guages ( fuel, Oil, and Temp) are powered by a two part powersupply, attached to the back of the instrument panel. One looks like a condenser, and effectivley it is. The other is retangular "can" about 1.5" X 3/4". This "can" takes a 12vdc input and provides a +7vdc pulsing output to power the guages. This can then has a black harness with one spade and 3 round ( bullet) style connector that attach to each of these guages.

Module
Hey,
I understand how the dash works (I'm a mechanic), but there is (or was...it's busted) a blue box the size of your hand hanging from the harness. It's definitely factory, but the harness I pulled from my car has no such box. This one has a circuit board and a single microchip, and various resistors and such. Maybe a wiper delay module or something for non rallye instrumentation.

Ah- I see, sorry no clue.
Maybe an early electronic/lean burn/ control module?? Wiper Delay, Cruise?

Thanks
Well, thanks anyway for the response. What I was originally after was the fuse box and firewall junction box, and a couple smaller connectors. It just would have been easier to put a whole harness in. So, because I wasn't sure what that module does, I decided to just transfer the junction and fuse boxes over to my harness. Fun fun fun. As I was doing it, I realized that many wires were not the same between my harness and the one with the module, many were in different spots or were different colors. I guess it probably was from some other mopar, but it was for a Rallye dash. I'll take a pic of the module and put it here, maybe someone will recognize it. Definitely piqued my curiosity.
