Intake Manifold and Bulge Hood Clearance

I am looking for input on hood clearance. Would optimally like to run an Edelbrock Performer RPM 440 on a RB. Under a '71-72 bulge hood. Anybody running that, either on a 383/400 or 440? Clearance issues? And will I need to use a drop base air cleaner to fit, or can I stay with my correct dual snorkel??
