e-bay or no way

Post by scottish440 » Sat Jan 20, 2007 9:09 pm

Guys I sure need the money to work on other cars...and the e-bay thing
sounds like a good idea....

But I sure would hate to drag this thing home for...just to make $500 bucks.

Would it bring more than $3000
If his daughter is fugly you could take her out and bring her out of her depression that might make him happy enough to just give you the car (I never did that one honest) XRAY

Ummmm well if the fruit of his loins looks an acts like him....well NO DEAL
not even double bagged with a 6 pack

By the way Xray...sounds like you have seduced your way into the
pants of a few mopars

If you can afford it you could sit on it for awhile. Muscle cars are kind of like stocks. Dont forget this car is a mopar, they go up in value pretty fast at times. One of the times is right around Barrett Jackson. Then there is tax return time. If you have the cash buy it and put it on ebay with a reserve that would make you happy. Someone will buy it, watch some of the auctions and see what cars in that condition are going for. You might be suprised. I only want 15% of what you make for the advise.

If I were to buy the car to turn, first thing that I would do is to clean it up, inside and out....get it running, and sand and prime it all one color. You'd be surprised....you might actually get a bit more cash than you thought.

I agree, sold my Satellite on ebay for 3500

It was rough when I got it, paid 600 and it looked like it was driven straight up from TJ. Primered the entire car and replaced the entire interior (used of course). A/C was ripped out before I got the car and some minor engine stuff was done, had to replace the wiring harness too, but worth the work. I put all of the proceeds into my current Satellite. After all said and done, I broke even. Basically traded the other one for current one. Now, if I can just convince the guy in town to sell me his Roadrunner......It looks much better with 2 of them sitting side by side

It's odd what the perception of value is on these cars. Most people are agreeing it's worth between $1000 - $2000.

A 71 Cuda in the same condition, same engine with similar options, colors etc. I've seen sell for $15,000 - $20,000! Doesn't really make sense other than the market is dictating that Cuda's are much more desireable.

I think 71 Road Runners are a great investment & very under-valued.

All things being equal, I'd take a 71 Road Runner over a 71 Cuda!

Someday in the not too far future our cars will really start to increase in value. They are seriously under rated. Every dog has his day. Soon all the e bodies will be either, too expensive for the working Joe or too far gone to bring back to life. Then all the big dollar car collectors will tear down our doors to offer us BIG BUCKS. Sure the hemis and 6pk cars are getting good money now but not as much as the E's. We should be happy that our b bodies are still fairly affordable. The 75 to 79 b bodies are still very affordable, some have neat option packages. I have been looking for a Magnun GT, 300 or charger for a future project. There are plenty of parts cars around they sold alot of Cordoba's. Someday these cars will go for as much as the 71 to 4 b bodies. Get a barn and load it up now. I can see the ebay ad now: Barn find 27 dodge magnums and chargers along with 1 1975 road runner ( not a b body)in mint condition. The buy it now price for the lot is $3,762,961.Auction endended early with buy it now. I know, I know it is a tad far fetched but it could happen in a perfect dream world. Damn maybe I should have kept that a secret. Never mind what I said those slugs will never be worth a damn. Will they?

I think that I'd take a stab at resurrecting this old bird. It's a gut wrencher to see a beautiful old bird neglected to he_ _ and back.

I wouldn't offer anything more than a thousand though.

I have my cars because I love the body styles and the performance. I had never bought one as an "investment". I fell in love with Mopars when Mopars weren't cool. Everyone else had Chebbelles, Moostangs, Trash Cans, Cameo's, etc....I was laughed at and rediculed for even owning a Mopar.

Now its the "in thing".

I guess that my message is this, I dont want to see these bodies become as popular as the ebodys....these cars are still somewhat affordable and I would like to see them continue as such. :?

I love my Mopars and I always will....

Rant off!

Have a great Mopar day!

I agree that the dollar value shouldn't be the sole reason for buying and restoring these cars.

On the other hand, it is comforting to know that your pride & joy does have some monetary value in the marketplace. Should you find yourself in a position where you have to sell or may want to trade up to something more to your liking, you have something of value.

I've seen a lot of ads in the paper similar to this one for a 1978 Cordoba with $30,000 in receipts with an asking price of $6,000. Ouch!!!

when I bought my first 71 runner back in 91, I liked the car and didn't expect it to be an investment. Now, with the cost of these cars, I have to look at them differently, as an investment I can enjoy!!!

If these body styles become as popular as the Cuda's, then we can all kiss affordability goodbye.

Although it is a dual edged sword....if the popularity does rise on these, replacement body panels will be made.

Such a quandry.....
