71/72 GTX/RR fender mounted turn single - what to look for

Post by AZ-Nick » Thu Mar 17, 2005 10:33 am

I need a part number for 71/72 GTX/RR fender mounted turn single assy or housing so I can cross reference it to my manual. The manual is a little confusing.
Also are there differences between the 71/72 and the 73/74?
Are the E Body units different also?

any help would be appreciated.
PICTURES WOULD BE GREAT.....

The 71/2 units are different from the 73/up units - I'll see if I can get some pictures., but the 71/2 's are smoother/round unit, where the 73-up are squared off ( and not near as purdee). Are you looking for a set or just the P/Ns?

71-72 sets are small and painted on Plymouths and chrome on Dodges.
73-74 are the larger ones and are chrome for both makes.
Also the turn signal wires are short for the fender ones and long for the hood mounted ones for 71-72 style.

You could get the signal indicators on the hood or on the fender. Although Ihave no clue what the criteria was other that the N96 hood would make you put them on the fender.

I'm not positive, but pretty sure the criteria for hood or fender was...
standard road runner hood would have them hood mounted, air grabber and standard satellite hoods would have them fender mounted.

How long would short mean?

The wires cables for the fender one are about a foot long and the hood mounted turn signal were about two feet long. No big deal if you have extra wire for your fender mounted signals but a problem if they are too short for the hood mounted ones (you will have to splice in extra wire).

71/72 sets are small? The one(!) on my satelite sebring is longer than 73/74 ones. it is painted and the newer style are chrome but I wouldn't say they were small.

OK, smaller profile than the 73 and up chrome ones.
That's what I meant.

Yyou can usually find them on ebay though the painted "Plymouth" 71-72 style are pretty hard to find.
