71 Road Runner questions

Post by MoparMan » Wed Jun 15, 2005 8:00 pm

Hey all,

Just a few quick questions please. I just bought a 71 Road Runner and although I got a 4 spd. trans with it, (also a 3 spd. trans), I was told that this is an original 383 engine 3 spd manual trans car. Did this year RR offer a 3 spd. manual trans? I've owned a 69 RR, a 68 Charger, a 68 Barracuda, a 72 RR, and a 73 RR, an they all were manual 4 spds. I will be kinda shocked to find that Chrysler offered a 3 spd. trans in a RR.

Also, its been a loooooong time since I've actually restored anything and I need a windshield as well as the side glass belt mouldings for this car. Any ideas where I might find NOS parts like these?

Many regards,

MM

Yup, 3spd was the standard transmission if you wanted to shift it yourself. The 4spd was an extra cost option. There are a few 383-3spd Road Runners out there.

It wouldn't be NOS, but any glass shop in your area should be able to get a replacement windshield for you for around $200 or less.

Mine was an original "turkeyleg" 3 spd runner also.

I'd have to go grab the window sticker to drop you the codes. It was a dealer ordered car. Had the air grabber, wheelwell mouldings, AM radio, cigar lighter, and ,little else. No A01 light package either.
4th generation B bodys- there is no substitute.
