Hee Haw - 3 Days of Spring

Post by 71_bronze_gtx » Sun Mar 31, 2013 8:50 pm

And I had to get my "new" GTX out of storage or pay another month. For you photo-phreaks, a brief half-a-walk-around in the driveway. Note the fabulous oh-range 'cuda in the garage.

I may have been given some "bad" info when I bought it last November. Told it was a 4.10 rearend, but revved like a 3.55. That's what I would have changed it to. Alas, the speedo doesn't work so I'm not sure yet. Was told the choke was disconnected, but not so. Just needs adjusted. Was told it has a Purpleshaft .509 x 292 cam, but it runs like it has something less aggressive. Misses while holding cruising speed, but pulls nice on the low end when asked to. When this engine gets properly tuned it will be a nice street brawler.

Rust to repair, missing parts to replace, carb and ignition to go over, and hopefully the heads and lifters are OK.

An easy way to check your gear ratio is to lift the rear, and give the tire one rotation and compare it to the rotations of the driveshaft. That is how I found out that my rr has a 3.23.

and the rest.

I'm thinking American Racing Torq Thrust VN105 D wheels. Those rallye wheels are really hacked up and I'm not a big fan anyway.

"Lost" fender tag.

Don't seem to be a lot of options, but I really haven't been able to delve into it much yet, due to crap weather.

Rear defogger
Remote hood release
Power steering and brakes - were these std. equipment on GTX? Can't recall at the moment
racing mirrors, remote driver's side, body color

Conversions:
6-barrel intake
electronic ignition
4.10 performance axle 8-3/4
front disc brakes
