Hey guys, after years of thrashing this old 440 in my Road Runner I've finally gotten around to building a replacement. Here's some shots of the old mill coming out:

Gotta give props to John Johnson who when I put the six barrel setup on the old 440 said, "Putting a six pack on that tired old 440 is like shoving an air hose up a rat's butt. It's gonna be fun while it lasts, but eventually it's going to blow!" Um, John proved to be prophetic.

Here's pics of the new 440 + 6 ready and waiting to go in:

Now I just have to sandblast, repair, repaint, and detail the engine compartment and I'll be ready to drop in this new mill. More progress pics to come!

Thanks guys. There's a ton of work to get the engine compartment looking as good as that engine. I told my engine builder if I didn't redo the engine bay it would be about like putting a Steinway in a hog lot... Hey, they both make beautiful music, right?

Bruce, nice car, what are the stats on the new motor and what cam do you have in the A12?

Specs on the new engine:

Bored to yield 451ci
Wiseco pistons, compression ratio @ 9.75 to 1
Indy-prepped steel heads, ported and polished (exhaust side) with oversize valves
Hydraulic Comp cam with 1.6 rockers, total lift: .521 Intake, .524 Exhaust
High-volume oil pump and 7-quart sump

And of course, 3 holley two-barrel carbs. :D

The Bee is a total project. No motor yet...

More pics after sandblasting. Need to weld in repairs in the rusty areas and then prime it with self-etching primer...
