PG Classic Air Grabber Bubble & Door

I purchased a PG Classic Air Grabber Bubble & Door and it was a total piece of junk. The bubble was not even close to the original part. The air box door had stress cracks out of the box. The fiberglass in the middle of the bubble sags down 3/4 of an inch from where it should be. The contour of the bubble is incorrect as it dips down instead of arching up. The bubble weighs over 35 lbs by itself and adding filler to try and correct the defects would only make it heavier. I doubt my rebuilt stock hood hinges would even support the added weight.

Further, it cost $150 USPS to ship from Canada to US. Then upon the return, it cost $125 USPS to ship back. PG Classic would only accept returns via USPS which to Canada means you have to ship it priority $$$$.

To add insult to injury, PG Classic arbitrarily decided to only refund partial credit for my original purchase price.

Amazing a vendor would sell such a terrible quality product. Thanks for the warning.

I had some issue with them a couple years ago. Ordered a pair of seat belt/retractors. They sent me ones that didn't fit. I called and argued. They insisted I had the wrong ones in my car and theirs were right. After much gnashing of teeth, the agreed to take them back, but I had to pay shipping.

They would be a last resort for me, and even then I'd have to think thrice.

That is one warp-up looking piece of junk.

On a side note, air grabber hoods use heavier springs than stock Satellite hoods. I believe it is the same spring as used on Charger hoods.

You get your head chopped off using Satellite hood springs. DAMHIK.

The hood springs on my 71gtx are off a 71 satellite,318 car and are the same springs and holds up the air grabber fine. :D

WOW that is aweful! I hate that you are in such a spot however thanks again for putting the info out so we could know. maybe since you would not get all your money back and pay shipping on top of that you could post it on ebay or craigs list with an accurate description and see if you could get a better return of your money. looking a what some of the stuff/junk sells for must be a lot of people building sloppy cars.

I checked out their web site...
"This new reproduction fiberglass 1971-72 Roadrunner GTX Hood Scoop , Fit exactly like original."

Well i guess NOT!
I also noticed they have a (Write a review on this product!) link.
http://www.pgclassic.com/product_review ... cts_id=559

If they post a negative review they won't be selling any. It wouldn't hurt to tell your story so others will know not to buy the crap they are selling.

You might want to look into this...

I've seen their hoods at a few meets and they look fairly well made.

2 comments I'll make here - first the PG flapper door orange lever my dad ordered was put together backwards(not sure how they did that) the door and bubble looked good

I bought a AAR door and bubble and for starters this is for a non functional AG setup only. The quality is not the best, lots of filler in the areas where the studs go in (which we broke about 10 of them and then had to strengthen it ourselves with carbon fiber) also where the door mounts on the hinged area is not moulded for it so you have to cut the fiberglass and then strengthen it to support the door. I have pics of all the work and BS we went through, I am not pleased, if they wren't so damn far away (im in canada) I would have sent it back and got the PG one instead.

I'm just wondering if the Credit card company could help you out. It's one thing if you ordered the wrong part , but this is fraud. The banks are pretty strick on that, ( as they hate competition :)
:pity:

only pic I can find for now...notice on the door where it mounts the flapper that bolt onto the door are solid, so you have to cut it to make the flapper door funtional
