I also have a crack at the top of my drivers side door. It moves when weight it applied. Repairable?

Advice on how to proceed........
Should I break out some media and start blasting the entire car till all the metal is exposed? Or is that overkill for a one day dairly driver? Should I get it dipped and have someone who knows what the heck they are doing repair the metal?

For the exterior I would use paint stripper on all panels, repair the rust properly with patches or panels as needed. Treat any rust with rust bullet. Depends on the amount of rust or rot but if you are only expecting a driver there is no need for media blasting or dipping. As for the door crack, I would grind out the crack a little bit and fill it with weld. Grind it smooth and finish it off.

Yeah, what's up with that? My 39k mile GTX has that crack on both doors. And that's after being painted twice. Factory/engineering defect?

Here’s an updated past thread about the door cracks.
