Brought my new project home! New pictures included.

Post by bandman1971 » Fri Aug 26, 2011 4:59 pm

Here ya go! The car at the bottom is my wifes 71 super bee (EL5). 383 auto on the column and we have all original paperwork as well as registration certificates throughout it's life. I was ready to start digging in but then realized I can't do anything until the garage is clean and organized. It's gonna be a long weekend. Anyone have any words of encouragement?

I have added the pictures of my new project 71 Road Runner also EL5. I know I will take some heat for the color, but I just wanted something that I would probably never see at another car show. I think we have two. I included a picture of the options on the fender tag. It is my first air grabber car and I love the factory wing and chin spoiler and everything else that makes the car unique. I am planning on installing the canopy vinyl top so if anyone has the chrome trim pieces maybe we can make a deal. The interior is a California special..... useless. I will be starting from scratch and I am looking forward to your advice and knowledge in restoring my first 71 RR.

My 72 rr that I sold a couple years ago was way over the top and I didn't feel comfortable driving it or leaving it anywhere. I am going to try to be a little more controlled this time.

Dennis

PS the black on the floorboard picture is just dust so it's time to jump start the vacuum.

If the heat that you anticipate for the color gets to be too much, let me know and I'll take it off your hands and absorb your punishment- say the word!!! The stance of that RR is perfect. I was right- the Bee's WAY COOL!!!
Shhhhhh!, don't tell my wife but after I finish my RR clone, I am planning on taking my '72 Charger parts car and making it my next project instead of getting rid of it like she thinks. She'll be O.K. -I'm very happy for you, Horace

Thanks for the kind words Horace. Sounds like you picked the right woman to marry. With my wife, I am a little off center and so is she so it kind of balances out.

There is a gentleman with a 1971 Charger RT within 45 miles of my home that was also originally Butterscotch. The owner before him painted it Pink! You want to talk about jumping out of the pan and landing in the fire. I know he has had it on Ebay a couple times. I was tempted, but I fell in love with the RR body style twenty years ago and can't get it out of my system.

Butterscotch looks really good to me if you have a good paint job. Like the featured Super Bee. It's only when they get old (original factory paint getting dull) that they don't look so good. Then they become sort of like an oversized pudding cup. :haha:

Needs to be painted B5 blue like Dave's or even orange... :D

Just kidding! I like staying with original colors...

That cracks me up! :bump:

Last car color was B5. It was beautiful and flawless.

What's wrong with an over sized pudding cup. YUM!
