Everybody enjoy the outage?

Post by Dave » Thu Jul 28, 2011 7:06 pm

Hey all!

Hoped everyone enjoyed their day off from the Nest. :-) I'll bore you all the details of my trials and tribulations over the last week, but the issues that directly led to the outage here today was that yesterday morning the primary hard drive in the server that houses the Nest (yes, the O/S drive, of course) started reporting unrecoverable errors. Not wanting to risk it, we worked most of the day yesterday getting the best backups we could (above & beyond the regular data backups that happen every night) and today we were offline while the tech support team at the hosting company replaced the drive and reloaded the operating system.

I still have a LOT of work to do to get everything restored, but thankfully I'll be able to be bringing customer accounts online again. The Nest got the benefit of coming online first because it was a good test of the PHP environment.

Anyway, back to work for me.
