What's it Worth? 70 Charger R/T

Post by quapman » Sat Mar 05, 2011 10:38 pm

I'm kicking tires on a local (central NC) 70 Charger R/T. No pics, but here's the skinny:

REAL R/T (XS29U0G). Was an auto on column with center arm rest, previous owner added 4-speed with pedals and non-console hump. (Was this even available on a 70 Charger?)
Was green with green top, TAN interior. NOW Top Banana Yellow exterior. 8-3/4 rear.

Needs total assembly, but paint is new and has new floor pans, quarter skins and trunk floor. Southern car with little rust to start. I think they went overboard with full panel replacements, but....

Other new parts include rebuilt white-faced gauges done by Redline, main wiring harness, dash pad, aftermarket A/C (CCA).

Grille is near mint.

Seats still need recovering.

I know it's not much to go on, but what do you think?

Non-console hump? If you're asking if you could of got a '70 Charger R/T with a 4-speed, and no console. The answer is yes. Console in a 4-speed, or automotic, was an extra cost option.

Thanks.

I wasn't sure since a lot of "upscale" things were standard on Charger R/T. I thought maybe console was automatically included with buckets.

You didnt say if the Engine/tranny is there or needs rebuilding-
Hard to say without pics but a real R/T is probably worth it.

Owning a 70 charger and a Roadrunner "Priceless"

Aside from my GTX and SSP I just love the styling of 68-70 chargers
My buddy has a 70 charger that he purchased new and it is just a regular old 318 , yellow and his was appraised at $29,000 I have to think a real R/T would be worth much much more then this.
There was a 70 charger for sale here in the summer with a factory hemi and they wanted $100,000 firm

If you guys ever see a 68 charger for sale my brother is looking for one as a project...as long as the shell is in good shape we would be interested regardless of the drivetrain or model and yes we will travel to the U.S to get it.
Sometimes I get to feeling that if Xmas, Fathers Day and my Birthday did not exist, then aftershave too would not exist.

No idea what it's worth but I just wanted to chime in and say I'm glad it's not a black '68. I'd be in trouble if it was... :D

Shoot, I'd like the unusual original color combo better than the yellow.

I was thinking the exact same thing. The yellow paint might make a nice base coat for a fresh layer of green. :D

Oh yeah...

Well, '69 interior shot, but you get the idea...

When it comes to re-selling it you know there will be some turned away cuz it's not restored to the tag. Which can be a negotiating point with the current owner. :D

'70 R/T came standard with buckets, but you paid for the armrest/buddy seat or the console.
engine + tranny, suspension, sway bar diameter, shock rates, blackout rear panel, woodgrain dash, stripe, front discs [ i think] + rear brake size, door bulges, maybe light pkg ,were basically the R/T pkg. Most everything else was an option - TicTochTach , A/C , Hood pins, Vinyl , rallyes, etc.

Hard to say on price, depends on how bad you want one. Full assembly needed pulls a lot off the possible price for me. Meaning i may have to assume nearly everything is suspect to be broken electrically, or mechanically, unless it comes with loads of receipts.

I'd be biased on the color though since my 1st car was a 69 charger in F8 green with black guts + console.
