I cant believe someone on this site didnt buy or mention this car...72 RR/GTX 440 4 speed track pack car with only 23,900 original miles..Ex show car from the 70's...B5 in and out..Console and buckets...I ended up with the winning bid in the final 3 seconds of the auction...Cant wait to pick it up..Some of the old school stuff will be removed like the shackles and steering wheel that were added but it a solid numbers car in its original skin.

Definitely a real nice car. As I have a weak spot for metallic blue with the blue bucket seat interior. Which was what was the color of my first 1972 RR in 1972. I venture to say that it probably didn't get more bids for two reasons. One, the economy, as people are afraid to spend larger bucks. Secondly, guys tend to want an original air grabber car when it comes to the '72 RR/GTX model. I might of bid on it myself! If it had been closer. As I'd like to have a '72 RR/GTX 4-speed bucket seat car. But it would of just cost too much money to have it shipped out here to southern California. I have pictures of it somewhere when it was the show car known as, "Mr. Blue."

you might think im nuts but Im kind of glad its not an air grabber car for a couple of reasons..One is I had a 72 rr in 1976 with the standard hood and I always liked it plus I have a 72 RR 400 4 speed air grabber car with the v21/v25 stripes and bench seat....So now side by side I have a RR and a X..Both B5 in and out..Both 4 speeds. One air grabber and one not...

Agreed! If I already had another '72 Road Runner that was an air grabber hood car. Then I would want the other '72 Road Runner to be the standard RR hood. That's like I made the mistake when I had two of them. Of changing the second one over to having the rear bumper with the rubber protection around the tail lights. Which the other one had. As I just like the looks of that better. Well, when I stood back to admire my work. As the two Road Runners were in the garage next to one another. It suddently hit me that the two cars looked the "same." Even thought they were two different colors.
