Fiberglass repairs: i.e. Bondo!

Wanted to start a discussion to garner insights on Bondo. That love it or hate it temporary fix for late model cars.

I find it funny that I've actually seen entire fiberglass fenders and bulge hoods for the 73's and 74's and a lot of people want to get their car lighter. Three thousand pounds is a bit heavy.

And given that there are very little aftermarket repops of sheet metal for the 4th gens, why is there such a backlash against fiberglass repairs?

It does seem to me to be a cheap and economical way to get your car on the road UNTIL you can actually afford to put the sheet metal in it's place.

Your thoughts?

I agree,
Most of us can not afford to pay a body shop for all the work. Most of us do not have the skill or tools to do metal work.

That leaves Bondo to make it look good enough until we have the $ to have it done right.
