Dave Layson, of Laysons Restorations, was arrested at the Carlisle show today. Cops carted him and all of the employees off. The word is that he was using Ma Mopar logos withouth permission. They also took the photos (film) from Rob Wolf. Rob is a photographer/writter. Thats the word, NOT forsure.

Rob Wolff writes or is editor or something major with
Mopar Collectors Guide.
I smell a fishy story but if it's real this should be very interesting.
I mean why would they take just one writers pictures. Or did I misunderstand something.
I goin to check Moparts right now.

Talked to a friend of mine who is at Carlisle. He thinks that the reason they took Rob Wolf's pictures from his camera was because he took pictures of an undercover cop that was there. Mike said he was there when the cops came in to arrest Layson, his employees, and confiscated all the parts they brought.
At any rate, the next issue of Mopar Collectors Guide should be interesting to read
Dang it, I should have went

Count me in on two....maybe three. I think everyone here should expect to pay more for each shirt then the normal car show shirt, as this would be a limited run. Maybe we could all prepay, to make sure the person in charge won't lose money.
Just think, if we all pre-pay, if this is anything like Laysons, we should be getting the shirts in spring of 2014!! (tenative date, please no calls, lol)

A buddy of mine called us on the way home and told us about the Layson's arrest....unfortunately, I didn't witness it or hear about it till after I'd left the show!

Mopar71, that is the only way to buy from Laysons, at a show, where you see the item before handing over cash.

Most people that I know who has puchased items from them were not pleased with them at all.

I was standing across from the Meguiar's display (just down from Layson's) when it went down--5 police cars come barreling down that row, the first one mowing down the sign at the end of the row. They were HOT and HEAVY! At first we thought there must have been a shooting or a fight to bring such a response.
Then came to find out it was indeed because he was selling parts with the pentastar and part numbers but not paying the licensing fees. Wow, it sure seemed like they were heavy-handed when they could have quietly driven up and accomplished the same thing. The local cops OBVIOUSLY wanted to make a splash.
Most likely they confiscated Rob's pictures because some of the cops were undercover/SWAT, including one in a Ninja mask. And if they ARE taking the cuffs off him in the posted picture it was only so he could read the multi-page legal document they served him with. They eventually carted him OFF.
And yes, there was glee and cheering on the fairgrounds when people heard this news. The general reaction was the "he finally got his!"

This article is short, but sums up the charges. And it says he's definitely in jail, unless of course, someone posted bond:
