Road Runner Nest

Boy do I wish I had more money.

There's a guy that collects scrap metal from all the garages in the area, including ours. He's a giant black guy well over 7 feet tall, and couldn't be any nicer. He looks intimidating though. I've seen him literally pick up engines and throw them into the back of his old beat-up pickup truck. Anyway, it just came to my attention that he has no less that FIVE Mopars he's had tucked away for more than 30 years. He's got a 70 Road Runner, a Challenger, a 70 Barracuda, a 69 Coronet RT with 500 miles (you read that right) and I can't remember what the 5th car was. He's now reluctantly ready to sell two, and I have a friend who buys and sells Mopars for a living, so I directed the two of them together. This friend of mine pays finder's fees, so I hope they do a deal.

The other thing I just found out is that at a tranny shop down the street from where I work there's a Hemi Superbird. She resides in a $2000 climate controlled bubble, and is just sitting there collecting interest. This guy used to drive a beautiful green 70 GTX, so I stopped by to say hi and talk Mopars, thinking he was like you guys. He ain't...he's a jerk. He's very suspicious of everybody and he sure ain't friendly. He doesn't deserve a Mopar.

Interesting stories.

I've run into a lot of paranoid people. I think unless you're actually driving your Mopar, most people get frightened when approached which is sometimes understandable. Plus, I have to think in the past how many people have taken advantage of me as a young lad with a Mopar and I myself have learned not to trust most people. So many full-of-it people all over. A lot of guys will just say they're into Mopars so they can scope out your garage or parts or whatever. I had one guy that always tried to get an old motor off me and always pretended it was going into some Mopar, and here I was thinking I'm helping the dude and almost gave it away to him, but found out later he had no car, just wanted to sell the motor for profit.

That might be a good point about driving your own Mopar when approaching a fellow Mopar owner. The Superbird is in his shop, I've never seen it. I've lately noticed a 71 or 72 Charger (gold with black wing) parked there every day. That's more my speed, so maybe I'll roll in there some day. He'll probably tell me to take a hike again, lol.
