You probably couldn't have that car restored to the level that it is for that much.

My money's on A-bodies. Well, it would be if it wasn't already tied up in my B-body!

It's not just the collector's driving up the costs on collector cars. The biggest reason quality cars cost as much as they do is how much money is invested in a quality restoration. When top shops cost around $70/hr., it becomes really easy to understand why things cost as much as they do. Consider the time and detail it takes to get a car to OE Silver or Gold. It is a whole different ballgame. Anyone can do an adequate resto, but when you're talking any type of "concours" resto, be prepared to cough up big bucks, regardless of type of car. You really can't compare cost on the average car you see advertised in the local auto trader to the car in question. I don't know the owner or history of this car, but quite frankly someone must have really liked it to spend the time and effort to restore it to the level it is knowing that it would be almost impossible to recoup the investment because it's not a six pack or hemi.
