WOW, now there's a nice set of wheels for ya!

I would really like to sit behind the wheel of that car! Except for the rear wing, this car is just spot on in my oppinion!

Yea, that's a sweet car. Personally, I like them with and without the wing, so either way is fine by me (matter of fact, I have one original spoiler package car, and one non-spoiler package car). There's just something completely awesome about an all black GTX, especially a 6bbl car. Granted, there are a few things that would need to be corrected on that car for it to be a high quality restoration, but the way it sits, bet it would be a fun driver!

For those playing along at home, things (at just a quick glance) I found that aren't correct:

1. Grille is all black, should be black and argent
2. Trunk was restored by a Chevy guy.
3. Wrong upper interior panels
4. Wrong paint color on the dash (shouldn't be gloss)
5. Looks like a broken ash tray door
6. Instrument cluster isn't installed correctly or completely
7. Carpet install leaves a lot to be desired
8. Door jam light switches painted over
9. Missing air cleaner decal
10. Missing decklid decal
11. Hose clamps
12. Brake booster color
13. Hood hindge color
14. Fender tag not body color (and it looks to be some type of special tag anyway)
15. Blue distributor cap
16. Voltage regulator is aftermarket (should be black with white lettering, right Bruce?)
16. Aftermarket Battery (but that's not a huge deal)
17. Lower control arms should be natural and mostly dipped in cosmoline
18. Transmission should be natural, not corporation blue

I'm not trying to pick the car apart, just mentioning some things that I see aren't correct more as a learning expierence for those that might not know some of this. I'm sure others here will be able to find more stuff. Matter of fact, Eric is really good with this kind of stuff.

What, suddenly I'm a voltage regulator EXPERT? I think not!

Whew, where to start. I'm looking nowhere but the engine compartment:

Where's the windshield washer bottle?
What's up with the ballast resistor location?
What's that blue wire hangin' all over the place?
What's that on the upper radiator hose?
Is the battery ground wire REALLY bolted to the AC compressor?
Wrong radiator cap
Missing rubber bumpers on hood adjusters
Chrome breather cap?
No fan shroud

I could go on, there's LOTS wrong... see how easy it is to pick a nice car apart? Wow, if I posted my car here we'd have a field day!

One more thing, why is it dealers feel the need to post 22 BILLION photos of the same thing over and over again? Dumbchits!

As you mention Dave, the stance of this car is just right. The detail of the body-colour paintet IP, I see that quite often! Not only in black cars, but in pinks, greens etc. too!
I dunno why people would do that, I think it looks quite bad to be honest!

Thats what I love about this board,a lot of educated b body people that know you can't put anything past them when trying to sell a wanabe roadrunner gtx satellite.

I have to defend this car on 1 points, the battery is grounded to the compressor,thats not that bad because the compressor is mounted on a plate that is bolted to the block.I would rather ground to the block thou.The wire at the other side is what engages the comressor clutch.The blue wires are going to the refrigerant low pressure switch.Also looks like a spark plug wire boot stuck on the valve cover breather

I wouldnt kick it outta my garage for leaking oil, but....

The return spring for the carb, correct me if I am wrong, but I dont believe that it should be coming off the compressor?? Shouldnt the decal on the header panel have the lettering across the top and bottom, instead of side to side??(Just going off my memory from my 71 RR from years ago, Lord knows how cloudy that is!)

I admit that I am not as knowledgeable about B bodies, but I am learning.....

Good call on the header panel decal. Yes, it should be top and bottom.

Again, my goal here wasn't to tear down someone else's car. Unless specifically asked to by the owner, I'd never go over a car and pick it apart like this. When someone posts a car for sale, it is a bit of a different story, because anyone seriously interested in buying the car should pick it apart like this so they know what they are getting.

My main goal, like I said, was an educational excercise. I sure wouldn't kick that GTX out of my garage either - granted if it was my name on the title, it probably wouldn't see the inside of the garage that much. I'd be driving the wheels off the thing!

I think we all agree on one thing and that's that we'd ALL own the car if we could! I wasn't saying the battery being grounded to the AC compressor was a dangerous thing or wouldn't WORK, my point was that I don't think they were originally grounded that way.

You are right Bruce, I wouldnt kick that car out of my garage either,we are just taking away points for originality

YA KNOW! you guys have totally earned the right to fact check a car......REALLY.... think about it.....where else will you find this many modest experts!!!!


AND.....I am in the process of "modestly" restoring a RR myself....there may have been things pointed out that I did not know.....

I just posted that in the ebay of the day before I saw this post. Be careful with that car, I believe the fender tag is an incorrect reproduction (wrong tag codes)

I just asked seller a question about it....we'll see what the response is....I have a fender code deciphering program saved to my puter....if I get a response, I will run it and post what it says!
