Hi guys, and welcome to you newbies.
Ebay has a gorgeous 71 'Runner up for auction.

He says it has a lot of NOS parts, including instrument panel. It does look nice, I wonder where he got the panel from...maybe it's just restored? Wow, what a sweet ride though.

wow! i am a fan of the cloth-inserts, but not really of the 2 tone door panels. i love that car, but questions...first, does it have a flat black strobe on it? can't really tell. Now...what are the pinstripes between the callouts? don't think i've ever seen them before. Also, why did that cat put the bezels on the taillights? That's not for a runner, even thought they're awesome!

The two tone door panels are standard on 71 bucket seat road runners and also on cars with the RR decor package (A87). The car is not coded for a strobe stripe (V8_). The quarter panel emblems and the bird decals are standard when there was no strobe. The pinstripes in the hood depressions were the performance hood treatment (V21)

Cool...i thought i could see a shade of stripe across the roof in one of the pics??? I don't think I've ever seen the hood stripes before, so that's something new and i kinds dig it. i did not know that about the door panels, though, i thought they were just for the two-tone interiors (bench seats), so thanks for the lesson!

Ok, so as far as we're concerned, he's basically a god.
lol
I wonder if he had a hand in the redesign for 73/74.

Honestly don't know if he was involved in the '73s and '74s. I DO know he thought the '71-'72 Runner was some of the best work in his career at Chrysler...

No, he wasn't involved in the 73/74 body update. After he finished the 71 project, he moved on to working on the F-body designs, and I believe wound up promoted up the corporate ladder before the F-body was finished.
hey

You could get the hood call out indentation stripes or the ones that wrap from the call out to the wheel well.
I like how he won't give the full VIN #, yet he shows the fender tag which has the full VIN # on it.
The '71 RR is my favorite of any RR, followed by the '72. I prefer the '68-'70 models as GTX's instead of RR's. The fuselage style looks most like the name and the Roadrunner character. That is almost the perfect RR in my opinion, all it needs is the 426 Hemi. Just a couple years ago I came across two different #'s matching '71 RR's, one was at the CC or the Nats. and the other was at the Winter Classics. The first was perfect and plum crazy purple and only around $46,000, the other was around the same price and condition but all black.
