I used Maaco, but I know the owner of this shop and its not your normal Maaco. Hence the base/clear and all the extra prep work. Tell me about your Satellite, does it happen to be gold or orange? I was looking at a few over the last few months.billzilla wrote:Which body shop did you use? You're not far from where I got my Satellite last month...

No problem on the lights.
Billzilla, I just searched and found your car on the forum. I was looking at that car on craigslist, the seller also had a orange one. I'm so glad a fellow Mopar person got that car. I would hate to see that car show up in the south bay will 20" wheels, being beat up everyday by someone who doesnt know what they have.

It's the gold one - I got it from Pat in Rio Linda. He also had an orange one and a few other cars that weren't for sale. A real Mopar neighborhood, too! I definitely would like to find a place like that to at least block and prime it while I get my $$$ together for a two stage Y8 paint job... Does this Maaco advertise on CL at all?DeLorean00 wrote:I used Maaco, but I know the owner of this shop and its not your normal Maaco. Hence the base/clear and all the extra prep work. Your project looks so similar to what I'm going through -- only further along, naturally.

Edit: Saw your other post. Yeah, a friend has been sending me pictures of 'DONK' cars to torture my brain. If I ever see someone in a 70's B with DUB or DONK wheels I'd have a hard time not putting both the car and driver out of their respective miseries (just kidding).
Why'd you pass on the gold one?

Why'd you pass on the gold one?I don't mean to hijack your thread but I'm curious... Yours isn't the '72 from CL in the Lodi area, is it?
I do not believe Maaco advertise on CL. I passed on your gold one because I already had a garage full of toys. 1972 Camaro Z-28, 1972 Road Runner Clone, 1981 DeLorean, 1998 Ferrari 355 kit car, (2)Fiero's, 1999 Lexus GS 400, and a 2007 BMW 328i Coupe. So you can see I had no more room. I thought about going to look at the orange one but I talked myself out of it. And no my car is not the one in Lodi but that seems like a fair deal, but I would be worried about what was under that cheap paint job.

I have been working on the dash, if you look in some the older photos you will notice that around the gages and a/c vent it was painted green. I tried striping the paint off but it took everything off wood grain and all. The plastic is still textured like wood so I painted it dark brown. It looked pretty good so I painted around the gages black and bought a good silver paint pen for the detail work. I'm happy with the results and its 100% better then the green. Also it look great for a driver/clone.
Before,

After,

Also I installed the plug back in the trunk and put the new mat in.
