Michigan International Speedway this summer

Post by 1971SSP » Sat Jun 02, 2012 12:38 am

Just thought I'd give anyone who is near Michigan International Speedway a heads up. They have a few fan appreciation days this summer. One thing they offer is a chance to take your car on the track for 3 laps...but when I went they did 6. The cost is only $25! It was really cool and it feels very different then driving on freeway. I'm going again this summer (they have a day in June, three days in July, all Fridays). Would be cool to get a few loop bumper cars to meet up for the laps. My brother took photos while I was on the track. I put this one on a t-shirt. Any interest in meeting up at MIS on one of the Fridays, let me know. 8)

Wow .... very cool!
I attended the August race at MIS for nearly 30 years so I know that track and area well.
I wish I had known about this.
I've since then moved to Florida and the spring Turkey Rod show at Daytona will let you take a lap with your show car.

I was just at MIS today on my way to Milford for the Power Tour. Didn't take any laps though.

I live about 15 minutes from Milford. Are you heading there to meet at Bakers for the cruise in on Sunday as part of the tour? They always have a great turnout. Best cruise in spot, hands down! :D

i think your headed to the GM Proving Ground....but Bakers is just 5 minutes southeast of the Proving ground located on Milford Road. Advertised as America's largest weekly cruise. http://www.bakersofmilford.com/1/252/cruisin.asp

Headed to Muskegon tomorrow (sun).

Posting two more photos. Again, if anyone wants to meet up, let me know. There is no passing, and they say the max speed is 70 MPH, but I did just over 90 MPH, and a couple guys must have hit about 100/105 MPH. The pace car was really moving.
