*ONE ODD THING* It seems to have had chrome trim on the tops of the doors along side the bottoms of the windows...I was told that is unusual for Road Runners...is that true????...I have seen another that had it...they are missing though.

I like the slots too....I think they'll stay!

Here a pic of the data plate....I had read somewhere on the board that someone likes to keep pics of them...

The other pic is where that trim is missing....if anyone can tell my if that unusual..or if they have some spares...

Thanks!
I collect fender tag info on these cars...thanks for posting the pic!!
The door/quarter top trim you mention is coded M31 on your fender tag. Also, I notice your car is coded (N42) for the brite slotted exhaust tips, a very cool option! Of all the 72 runners I have on record (147), more than half of them are coded for the door/quarter top trim. It's much more common on 72 cars than 71s. This trim was also available on 71 Satellites.
AKA Butterscotch71....the road runner nest is out to win you over this year!Image

Thanks!! I love the 944 S2's!! I had a 1986 944 about 10 years ago and I loved it!! As for the Road Runner (clone) its sublime but the photo makes it look lighter. I have a full build thread around here somewhere but I have no idea how to link it. If some knows how to link PM me.

PS-Sweet project, good luck!! This is a great forum with lots of cool people that can help you on your build. I could not have finished my car without everyone on this forum help!!

Wow, my favorite year Plymouth B-Body: 1972.

Looks great, but it did look pretty bad-ass in black primer though!

I go in spurts on working on the car and when I was on a roll for a while (I think the longest was one month straight), I could feel the strain it was putting on my relationship. Of course, she doesn't complain or get in the way, but sometimes it sucks to ignore people, especially if they don't have a car interest and I don't wanna force it. Plus, I like my alone time in the garage with me and my RR. It relaxes me.

Hello Brian, I'll be happy to help if I can. I've found a lot of stuff on ebay
and I called a fellow Nester, Nick out in AZ. last week.
He helped me find firewall insulation plugs.
I know of a place in Lithia Springs a half mile
off of I-20 that does powder coating.
I said "Don't look Ethel, but it was to late."

I know of a few places I may use.....

-Dallas Plating seems to do a bit of work for local folks..Did you use them?
I had a fellow come into my shop this past week who retores cars (GTOs were his thing) and gave me a line on a media blasting shop, I think it was off of 400...they do soda, and rougher stuff for the undercarriage...don't have the name on hand, but he said they were great.
I don't reember who dips parts...used to be Unpaint....I think they changed their name....I don't think I'll dip much though...
I may have to get that name/number for the powdercoating place.

I'm kinda unsure who to get to do the quarter panel..I know a *LOT* of local people who do bodywork and rebuild cars (because I deal in late-model VW salvage)...most have no idea what a Road Runner is....It's all about buying wrecked late model cars, fixing them, turning them, then on to the next...."good enough for government work" type attitude....I don't expect sheer perfection..I just want it really really right....I imagine I'll have to load it up and lug it around to some shops..etc..kinda scary.

I'm kinda gettin anxious to start this project...the bad right rear quarter panel was really a hurdle...I saw that AMD has the quarters now http://www.autometaldirect.com/images/u ... 2L_web.jpg

...didn't see that anyone here has used them yet....my rocker is so cobbled that it actually is "ha-ha" funny...

I have three "big" cars to restore...I was going to do this one second...but I may just do it first...This board seems as though it will be of great help. My other cars are real oddball...and gonna be real tough on parts locating, and support (1955 Willys Bermuda and 1959 Plymouth prototype diesel taxi)...the Road Runner may just win out.

If ANYONE has used the AMD panels..I'd love to hear about it....looks as though they have the front lower valence as well...

Anyway, here's a pic of the quarter panel.......good candidate for replacement if I do say so myself!! LOL!!

Hello Brian,
The number to Lithia Powder Coating and Sandblasting
is 770-948-6891
I bought all new glass for my car from AMD. I was lucky I
didn't need any sheetmetal on my car.
You might want to go to the Hayes show up at Commerce.I believe it is
this weekend.

Also want to say to DeLorean00. Your car turned out real nice.
